Better Late Than Never

I don't usually procrastinate....really. I've just had more fun knitting than updating the blog I set up to document my knitting. It's said that one picture is worth a thousand words....here are a few photos, or a few thousand words, however you choose to look at it!

Here's the cape I made for my granddaughter from Tracy Ulmann's book, Knit 2 Together. I used Elann superwash in French Blue...the yarn was all the same dyelot but once it was finished, I noticed striping. Oh, well. Although the photo is a bit out of focus, the kid looks cute in the cape!

And here's another view:

And then there are the socks....

These were made from Mountain Colors Sock Yarn; they're very cozy and comfy.

Again, the photo is a bit out of focus (AARGH!) These are Trekking XXL, one of my favorite sock yarns. The colorway here, with its blues and greens, reminds me of the ocean.

Finally, these were for my hubby. I bought the yarn a couple of years ago and decided to make him a pair recently. The yarn label became a bookmark and I can't locate it now; when I do, I'll update here, but I think it was an Austermann yarn.

Currently on the needles: more socks, of course; a swiffer cover from Birdy's Knits; a dishcloth; and a bunch of UFOs. Since my daughter is expecting another baby (also a girl!) this summer, the UFOs will wait; there's another baby blanket I have to buy yarn for. (Twisted Yarns, my LYS, is dangerous; I'll walk out of there with far more than the yarn for the blanket. Fun!) And my daughter really needs the stole that's half finished...her husband's sister is getting married in September and it will be perfect. Hmmm....guess I really need to get knitting!

I'm Confused

Well, I just logged on and found I had two photos...same one, different sizes. (Picasa was really crazy last night.) I deleted the larger one (at least, I think that's what I did) so now maybe this blog can look a bit normal.

Did absolutely NO knitting today. And tomorrow I have to work on organizing one of three rooms still in a state of chaos after our move into our new house. But tomorrow night....I've been working on a knit-in-the-round shell made of Rowan Denim for what seems like ages. Bought the yarn in August when I visited my folks in Florida. When I got home, I read the label more closely ... the yarn shrinks vertically, which meant I needed to make the shell longer both in the lower section and in the armhole section. Although I bought an extra skein, I knew I was going to need more. I visited my folks again a couple weeks ago and, PTL, the yarn was still available and in the dyelot I needed. I left the store with 3 more skeins. That's probably more than enough to complete the shell. I just need to do some work on it! Depending upon how much yarn is left, I'm thinking a purse might be just the thing. Of course, that would have to be lined and knitting is so much more fun than sewing....even with my Bernina.

Just noticed the time .... today is actually tomorrow .... how's that for confusing?

New Day, New Blog

I've been thinking it was time to set up a blog dedicated just to knitting. My husband left today for a four day visit with his mom in Pennsylvania and the opportunity arose to begin working on it. So YEA! Here I am! Over the next few days I hope to start posting some photos of current knitting projects (and there are lots!) and maybe a couple of patterns I worked out (they're very simple because I'm very new at this).

Picasa is giving me headaches today...I can't get my personal photo to thumbnail size. Nothing works. And my url supposedly didn't work...but it did. Aaargh! So I'll figure out the details later!

Welcome to my eclectic world of knitting. I do hope you'll come back often.
